Product Description
The Oak Knoll District became an AVA in 2004, but the region has been planted to wine grapes since the 1850s, and Ed Sbragia has been sourcing grapes here throughout his long winemaking career. The appellation spans the Yountville and Oakville crossroads mid-Napa Valley, a location that provides a wide range of microclimates. Ed looks to specific blocks of vineyards he knows well to best express the rich, flavorful character Chardonnay can achieve in this unique AVA. In the cellar, the juice fermented in barrel for a full month, then underwent 100% malolactic fermentation. Aging for 18 months in French oak (100% new) fully integrated the wine and imparted rich texture. The excellent 2013 growing season in Napa Valley started off early; temperatures remained even right through harvest, with the exception of a single heat spike in late June and early July. Grapes developed full fruit character with balanced acidity.
